You aren't just sitting there or laying around. You are literally siphoning your energy into another life form. It's exhausting.

Pumping so you can bottle feed IS MORE WORK THAN NURSING!!

I wish men could comprehend the stress that comes with keeping your supply up to make sure that baby has enough to eat. Even just the idea that if I did something wrong: didn’t eat enough/ stay hydrated etc, that my baby could get hungry because of a choice I made.

This is towards my husband specifically: never, and I mean NEVER touch my breast without me specifically asking for it. Idk what changed after I started breastfeeding but genuinely my breast are solely for my baby rn and anytime he tries to do anything it fills me with a rage I can’t explain 😅

The fact that I am on a clock 24/7. Haven’t slept a stretch longer than 6 hr since giving birth for pumps/feeds.

That there is absolutely no sexual reason to breastfeed my baby. Literally the only reason I do it is for baby’s nourishment - I find that my libido is nonexistent while nursing.

please don't suggest pumping as a solution to breastfeeding troubles, it's even harder 😅

It is 24/7/365. Your responsibility never ends and there are no breaks. There’s no “thank goodness it’s the weekend” or taking a vacation. Even if you’re sleeping or traveling or away from baby, you have to pump to protect your supply (which often takes even more effort than directly feeding). Don’t even get me started on what it’s like to be a working mom…

Breastfeeding is hard. It’s demanding from beginning to end. It takes your body, your time, your sleep, and your energy. It may be easier for a man because there’s no bottle to make or wash. But for me, it’s one of the greatest gifts I can give my baby.

as an ebf mother i am nervous at every weight check it’s like finding out if im passing a test or not, especially in those first days my baby losing weight felt like a direct attack on my ability to feed my son effectively

That it really contributes to feeling “touched out” at the end of the day. We may not want to cuddle, be intimate, be touchy-feely etc. after having a baby on our boob all day (and a toddler or other kids on top of that)

in the beginning it's so isolating. at my family's Christmas gatherings with a 9 day old I spent hours in a guest bedroom feeding baby because we were both learning how to breastfeed and I didn't want to cover and also wasn't comfortable doing the b00b hamburger in front of ALL my extended family. I was so lonely in that room

Giving a bottle in the middle of the night isn't really helpful because she would need to pump at that feeding time.

Letting me go out by myself still isn’t a break, there’s a time limit. I can’t ’just go’ somewhere for hours on end because I need to pump in 3-4 hours

Giving the baby a bottle of breastmilk doesn’t give me a break because then I have to pump.

It’s not relaxing. I’m not sitting and lounging on the couch. My body is hunch in an uncomfortable way to feed

Just the time. I am not falling behind on things because I am lazy. I just physically cannot load a dishwasher or a washing machine while feeding. sometimes she wants to eat every 3 hrs. sometimes it is every hour and I have to stop in the middle of a task.

Spilling milk is a big deal! Let me cry. I know it’s not the end of the world, but it is difficult to pump and now that hard work is wasted.

It’s HARD and its a lot of pressure. It’s not just about pulling out your boob. It affects everything. I have breastfed 3 kids and my breast looks so different. It affects you mentally and physically.

Breastfeeding is a full time job. Making sure you eat/drink enough of the right things, frequent feedings, focusing on milk output, etc. It’s an around the clock commitment

I’m so tired because my body never fully rests. I’m always making food to care for my baby. So even if he wakes up with me, it’s not just the lack of sleep making me tired.

That if you let me sleep, I still have to wake up to pump, so I really need more sleep 😭 please feed me and let me sleep. I'm 9 months pp & still producing SO MUCH MILK, but I'm more tired now than I was when our daughter was born.
