Best or worst quote of the day “are you an expert?”, “I don’t know”

Let me also paraphrase another greatttt part from today: “the goal was to slowly decrease the dosage to help with her depression” … “but you increased the dosage?” … “yes”

Hairdressers being more transparent about their experience than Psychiatrists.. Terrifying.

as someone who does advertising for a living this is hugely talked about as not too do because of the damage it can do if things go wrong. As soon as I heard she started in august 22 my jaw dropped.

also people have an easier time suing a hair salon than a medical professional because the hair salon messing up is always very obvious & doctors know how to skirt responsibility

From the UK, the American health system is terrifying
Aside the insurance issues
The fact you can shop for docs is crazy
Our system you have a national individual health record all docs have access to it
All docs and specialists talk to one another via this database they know what you treatment, referrals and your medication
As much as our nhs is stretched it is bloody amazing for that I am thankful everyday we have this

As a viewer from the UK it’s very interesting to see how elements of US healthcare work. We can’t really ‘doctor shop’ with the NHS and after seeing this I’m not entirely convinced that’s a bad thing!

Its okay to be not an expert in first month of her practice. But whats not okay is treating a patient thats way too complicated for her. She should have referred her to another psychiatrist that can understand and properly treat Lindsey’s condition. Her patient should not be a victim of her “still learning” and “getting experience” phase of being a DOCTOR

It’s infuriating. I had mild PPD and it was so hard to find a therapist who specialized, took my insurance, and was taking new patients. I finally found someone and it was so clear that she had ZERO experience with PPD. I had to bring my newborn with me (research told me this was super common and welcomed with many PPD therapists). Therapist suggested leaving baby at home for the next appt and also said “well, if you weren’t dealing with depression before baby, it will probably eventually go away.” It was awful and I kept wondering why she included PPD as a specialty when it clearly wasn’t. I never went back.

This is why you ask open ended questions in therapy. That’s how you get the client to talk more. This psychiatrist made me so upset.

I have an eye disease called Keratoconus. I found an eye dr an hour away because ON HIS WEBSITE…one of his areas of expertise was in KERATOCONUS. Quite the shock if I would show up to the appointment and find out he had only been practicing for a month and had no reason to call himself an expert…other than the fact he read a few extra articles on his own time. Heartbroken for Lindsay.

We can tear apart all aspects of this trial. The way I see it.. she was failed at every turn. The suffering for all involved is immense. Unimaginable. Folks are so blind as to the way industry/medicine works today. And because of this, we all suffer at some point in our lives.

I genuinely don’t understand how someone can say that they have a specific interest in women’s health, including postpartum yet doesn’t administer the Edinburgh screening or is even familiar with it as it’s one of, if not, the most widely used instrument.

I wonder if our laws are different in Australia because when I search a doctor it usually tells me what they studied at what year, what their specialty training is, what specialty boards/organisation they're in and I can only recall seeing 'areas of interest' not that they're an expert.
