@soph.workbaby: Part 1/4: How to be strategic as an executor topping the list of boring but important things… knowing what critical thinking actually means and how to do it (took me way too long to learn this in my career…). - - - - 1. What assumptions am I making and what evidence supports them? 2. What 1-2 other reasonable options did I consider and why did I rule them out? 3. Why isn't this a good idea? What could go wrong? Downsides, Risks, Recommendation. 4. How will we objectively prove whether this tactic worked beyond my own intuition Measurement. Before/After metric. - - - - Link in Bio - - - - Prompt to get AI to coach you through👇🏼 [ I want to think critically through a work tactic before I run with it, not just go on gut feel. The tactic: [describe it] The goal it's meant to serve: [outcome] Coach me through this one question at a time, in this order: Separate what I actually know from what I'm assuming. For each thing I say I know, ask how I know it. Check I've genuinely considered other ways to do this, not just gone with the first idea. Stress-test where this could go wrong and what I'd do about it. Define how I'd actually prove it worked, beyond just feeling like it did. Ask me the hardest question my manager would put to me about this right now. Don't move to the next question until I've given a real answer, not just a confident-sounding restatement of the tactic. If my answer is vague, ask me to be more specific. If I'm genuinely stuck after that, help me get to a workable partial answer and note it as something to firm up later, rather than pushing further. Don't tell me the tactic is good. If you think it's weak, say so plainly and say why ]

This is so good! I’m finding it so challenging to be known as an extremely efficient executor (a great thing), as I find it leads to people excluding me from strategic conversations, even though when I am included, I can provide good insights! How would you suggest getting out of the executor box when it comes to senior leaders’ perceptions (especially when it’s easier for them to keep you there, so things keep getting done well)?
