Ruki and the cow reportedly spent much of their time together, eating, sleeping and staying close. After about two years, the cow was sold because her owner was experiencing financial difficulties. Ruki reportedly howled, stopped eating and searched for her. He eventually followed her scent to another farm. After seeing how distressed he was, the farmer brought the cow back.
