This Hole in the Wall Serves the Best Udon in NYC 🍜 It also happens to be some of the most affordable… The term “hidden gem” gets thrown around a lot. But if you look that phrase up in the dictionary, you’d see a picture of Udon St Marks. I was hesitant to make this video. This is a restaurant where I truly consider myself a regular, and a line to get a seat at the bar is already starting to form on Friday and Saturday nights. In my humble opinion, Udon St Marks does make the best bowl of udon in New York City. It also happens to be incredibly affordable (the cheapest bowl will run you just under 9 bucks…), and can be paired with incredibly delicious katsu curry for a small upcharge. (PSA: THE SERVERS HAVE TOLD ME THAT PEOPLE ARE “FORGETTING TO TIP” LATELY, SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO LEAVE A GRATUITY 😤 THEY ARE CASH ONLY!) But beyond the food, it’s the atmosphere that makes this place so special. I mention this in the video, but it’s become a cliche to say that a Japanese restaurant in NYC makes you feel like you’re in Japan. Udon St Marks accomplishes this in a humble, understated way. The J-Pop on the radio, the collection of regulars quietly slurping at the bar, even the small queue of customers waiting to get inside all transport you to a neighborhood noodle shop on a quiet street in Tokyo. Go check out Udon St Marks, say hello to Mao for us, and tell her The Rec Team sent you ❤️ 📍Udon St Marks 11 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10003 #udon #soupseason #japanesefood #noodles #nycfoodie
