there is no beauty in grief. it's pain, and anger, and confusion. death can be gentle, grief cannot

I was holding their hands when both of my parents died. I will never understand how something so horrificly damaging can be as gentle as a last breath.

My mother passed a decade ago but we lost her two decades ago. Dementia is a terrible disease but it makes death a blessing in many ways.

The worst thing to experience in life is losing your mom. Especially witnessing your mom’s life disappear right before your eyes. No one really understands unless they experienced it. Sending you hugs.

Two weeks from now it’s gonna be a year since she died. Everyday that day replays in my head. Every moment I sit alone I remember it all over again. The moment her heart stopped and the look in her eyes. I think about it too much sometimes I feel detached from reality. I know I’m traumatized. I know I’m unwell and I need help but I cannot ask for it because I cannot afford to look or sound weak or whiney. And I got so angry. So fucking angry at this world and everyone and everything and idk what to do with this anger. I even feel angry with her. Sometimes I cry and other times I seethe because she left just like that. I just hate it here.

She died a week before I turned 13. 7 days. I’m now an adult and have had more of my life without her than with - she’ll never see the woman I’ve become, but she’ll always be a part of the life I live. In my laugh, my smile, my tears. She raised me for as long as the universe allowed. I miss my mum everyday, and no matter how much time passes I will always miss her because every moment and memory I hold of her is cherished.

I know you don't want or need a different perspective, but this one has helped me when I lost family and friends I didn't want to lose.
We are in borrowed vessels, we don't die, it's just the end of our journey here. Those who are ready, shed the vessel.
This is why everything hurts the way it does. We're so in tuned to a physical presence because it's literally all we've known.
Your mom is still with you and will stay with you (just not in a physical presence) until she knows you're going to be okay. That's when she'll begin her new journey, and she'll still be there when you're needing her. She'll show you signs.
Prayers of peace and healing to you and your family! 🫶🕊

I lost my mom 6 years ago. I watched her lay in a hospital bed taking her last breaths. my brain new she was gone soon as I saw her. my heart screamed she could still be saved. everything in me not just my heart broke when the flat line hit. I remember all the messages saying she was in a better place and how much I hated it because everyone reminded me she wasn't HERE anymore and never would be.

It’s been 34 years for me. You never stop grieving and wishing I could hug her one more time or ask for her advice or sit and have a cup of coffee with her.

6 years yesterday, so sudden and my trauma around it haunts me to this day
yes I will admit there have been silver linings, stuff I got to do I wouldn't have if she were still here, people I wouldn't know
but I'd trade it all for her in a heartbeat
even just a few minutes with her again
nothing replaces them, every

Be angry it's good. I would like to tell you that your Mum's passing was some master plan but that is all bollocks as we say here in my part of the planet. It is very unfair but I have come to the conclusion that I am going to fight to stay on this planet for as long as I can. I am saying this as a Seventy four male with all sorts of health problems. Fight for your own life and don't be someone who accepts it when loved ones pass.

I recently was talking to my cousin and I gave her a play by play of every single thing that happened the day my mom died and I was perfectly fine telling the story until I came to the part of what color her mouth was when they took the ventilator out. it stopped me immediately and it took me a couple minutes to keep going. it's so strange to me that ONE part kills me every time I think about it.

Mum. November 24 2024. The grief is still exactly the same as it was the day she died. I look like I'm okay most of the time, but I'm not. Most people grieving will understand this..🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😢

I don’t like how life works. We shouldn’t have to live without the people we love the most and spent the most time with. It fucking sucks!!!!

I completely understand why you don’t want people trying to find a silver lining in something so horrific.I lost my grandad at 10 and he was my only stable parent figure, so I know how deeply losing someone can hurt. My grandad lost his mum at 13, and even as an older man, after living a full life, that loss never fully left him.
You don’t have to find a lesson in it or “get over it.” She’ll always be with you in the memories you have, in the person you are, and in the little pieces of her that you carry with you. I still talk about my grandad to people, and that’s how I know he’ll never be completely gone. You can miss her for as long as you need to. Just be kind to yourself. 🤍
