@filmenthusiast: Christopher Nolan now has 3 movies that passed $1B at the box office. The Odyssey crossed $1.1 billion this weekend, $461.1 million domestic and $643.6 million overseas, and it did that after only four weekends, before even opening in China or Japan yet. It's the third film of Nolan's entire career to hit a billion, following both Dark Knight movies, but it got there faster than either of them did. It's also the highest grossing R-rated film of the year and the second highest grossing R-rated movie ever made, right behind Deadpool & Wolverine. IMAX alone has pulled in $257 million, making this IMAX's biggest release of all time too. For context, this is a three hour R-rated adaptation of a 2,700 year old poem outperforming a Batman movie. Nolan's entire filmography has now crossed $7 billion worldwide, and analysts think Odyssey could still climb past $1.5 billion before it's done, putting it within range of the actual top 15 highest grossing films ever made.
