@finegael: 18 months on and the impact of the power outages from Storm Eowyn is remembered by communities across the country. That’s why Senator Gareth Scahill is calling for the ESB to be given responsibility for properly maintaining our forests so toppled trees don’t cut power lines.

if it is common sense why hasn't it been done for the last 20 years,ye hadn't even got the brains to allow exclusion zones when all the planting started in the 90s . And make something mad like planting low height crops under the power lines like Christmas trees,or energy plants that way the ground produces something and we the citizens don't have to pay for wild folage and trees to be topped every couple of years.ps maybe try to as us people who actually work in the woods for some advice not your so called advisors who don't have a clue.

you know I think the country would be better if we got rid of m9st laws and scummy politicians and parties like this shower of pricks, we should deporting illegal immigrants, Completely close our borders and arm the Irish citizens, we should get rid of laws like TV licenses, fishing licenses and let the Irish enjoy Ireland for what its known for, we could have people kayaking in a river and setting up a camp near by where the can do a catch and cook, we should get rid of the idea pf planning permission, if you own the house and the land you should be allowed to build whatever you want, were a better country without politics
