Adventist Church Offers to Support the Government's Agenda 111 Hospitals Completion Project Accra, August 10, 2026 - Leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana and the Ghana Adventist Health Service (GAHS) on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Health, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to discuss proposals for partnering with the government on its Agenda 111 hospital project. Led by Dr James Antwi, Director of Ghana Adventist Health Service, the Church presented a proposal to the Minister, and said it was in response to an appeal made to the Church in 2025 by President John Dramani Mahama. During a courtesy call that year, the President had urged faith-based groups to consider helping government complete the Agenda 111 hospitals. The proposal named four areas where the Church could help: trauma care, mental health services, addiction treatment, and cancer care. Responding, the Minister for Health welcomed the Church's offer and assured the delegation that the government was ready to work with faith-based health institutions to improve healthcare delivery across the country. Mr Akandoh praised the SDA Church for its long history of supporting healthcare, especially in deprived communities, and thanked the Church for its continued commitment. He said the government alone cannot meet the growing needs of the health sector, and called on other CHAG members and private businesses to help complete and manage the Agenda 111 facilities. The Minister promised the government's support to guide any partner willing to help finish the projects, explaining that such partnerships would not require money to be paid to the government, but rather direct support to complete the buildings. The meeting was arranged by Dr Peter Yeboah, Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). Dr Yeboah told the Minister that the Adventist Health Service is one of the leading Christian health providers in the country, with hospitals in rural areas across all 16 regions, mostly serving communities with limited access to healthcare.
