during a solar eclipse, the majority of the light is only covered,not filtered. the remaining sun ray is still the same power as always.when u look at the sun normally during the day, ur pupils go very small not letting all the light in. and during a solar eclipse ur pupils are larger due to it being dimmer outside , and the light is more focused and sharper so it's much easier for the eyes to take it in and get blinded
