I always told my kids “you’re not that important to everyone. You are to me & your family and maybe even your close friends. But, you’re not the center of a stranger’s world for them to invest their precious time on”. Worry about how you come across to the people who matter.

My mom once told me a story about how she hated being in line at the cafeteria in college cause she felt like everyone was staring at her.. then when she admitted this to her best friend her iconic bestie said "Lynn i love you but you're just not that fucking important to them. they are worrying about themselves" ... I think about that DAILY
