Especially during Albania’s communist regime, many Greeks of Northern Epirus faced persecution because of their ancestry, language, and faith. Religious freedoms were restricted, churches were closed, and Greek cultural expression was placed under strict control. Although times have changed, many issues still remain today. Their history must not be forgotten. The Northern Epirotes deserve freedom, dignity, respect for their identity and their rights. Northern Epirus is not simply a place.
