Packing a vase is an art form all of its own. 😅📦 Last time I shared a packaging video it it got a lot of eyes so I want to share some more info: I don’t use any plastic with my packaging. The tape and boxes are all paper (obviously) and the packing peanuts are startch peanuts - so they biodegrade and dissolve in warm water. Sometimes the starch peanuts can leave a little powder residue on pieces but it comes right off - I like to use a makeup buffer brush to dust it off. I promise you the thoroughness is necessary! My pieces are completely ceramic, even the chains. I’ve been packaging chain ceramics for years now and the packing peanuts paired with the double-boxing has proven to be the best way for me. It might seem like a lot of packaging with the 2 boxes and all the peanuts, but that’s just the nature of the beast with having a pottery shop and shipping fragile ceramics. I do offer pick up for locals which reduces packing. Also, I’m not a production potter. I produce limited intimate collections - so I’m making 100-150 pieces a year. I’m kind of guessing there, but off the top of my head I would say that’s about right. While the price of shipping materials for each piece might seem high for some business owners, my product is handcrafted ceramic vases. It takes me a long time to make each one, my customers invest in these pieces so I just can’t skimp out on the packaging. I pour pieces of my soul into everything I make. Once they leave I want them to arrive to people just as cared for as they were in my studio while making them. I think that covers it, but let me know if there’s anything else or I’m always open to some feedback! 🫶🏼🏺
