ーNamtanFilm AU [Film’s POV] It was getting dark outside. We had finally arrived at the park we had been heading to. Even after all this time, I still hadn’t been able to tell her. No, perhaps… It was precisely because so much time had passed that I couldn’t say it anymore. But then Namtan, sitting on the bench, said something that pierced straight through me. ā€œIt’s already March. Do you think we can be in the same class next year?ā€ Namtan’s eyes were still filled with hope. ā€œI’m actually getting better grades too, you know. Maybe being in the same academic class as you isn’t impossible!ā€ Her face was far too innocent. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. ā€œNamtan, listen carefully.ā€ ā€œI… can’t be with you anymore.ā€ The bright expression on Namtan’s face immediately disappeared. The bench no longer mattered. ā€œWhat do you mean?ā€ ā€œI’m going to university.ā€ ā€œWhat are you talking about? We’re supposed to have another year togetherā€¦ā€ ā€œI’m graduating early. I’m going to a university far away.ā€ Namtan had always trusted me. Probably more than anyone. And now, she didn’t say, ā€œNo way.ā€ ā€œThere has to be something we can do, right…? We could at least see each other a little during holidaysā€¦ā€ ā€œIt’s far from here, and I don’t think we’ll be able to see each other anymoreā€¦ā€ ā€œI’m sorry, Namtan.ā€ I desperately held back my tears. I felt like I had to be strong in front of her. Namtan let out a small, tearful voice. ā€œPlease, just say you’re joking… You’re joking, right…?ā€ Namtan grabbed my shoulders and finally hugged me more tightly than she ever had before. The gentleness that usually wrapped around me was nowhere to be found in that hug. ā€œPlease, that’s enough already… Tell me you’re joking… Pleaseā€¦ā€ I didn’t answer. That silence alone probably made me feel as though I had pushed Namtan into the bottom of the sea. ā€œDon’t leave me, Film…! We finally found each other again! I love you more than anyone…!ā€ I quietly tried to pull Namtan away from me. Her hug was so strong that I almost ended up pushing her away. ā€œWe were meant to be apart from the beginning… I’m sorry… Namtanā€¦ā€ No matter how cold my words were, she refused to give up and grabbed me again. ā€œI love you… I love you so much… How am I supposed to live without you, Film…?ā€ Her cries made my heart hurt even more. It sounded as though Namtan was the only one who loved me, as though I didn’t love her at all. ā€œI love you too… But it’s already been decided… I’m sorryā€¦ā€ ā€œNo… I really love you…!ā€ Namtan told me she loved me again and again. But she never told me not to go to university. She simply didn’t know what she could do, and desperately searched for some way to make both university and our relationship work. Even though I knew I had to leave, I still couldn’t bring myself to leave Namtan behind. Deep down, I realized that I truly loved Namtan too. I had hurt her this badly. If I had never found my way back to Namtan that day, the day we went to the amusement park, maybe I would have remained nothing more than the girl in her memories, and she would never have had to go through what she did because of me. Ignoring almost all of my own feelings, I forcibly pulled Namtan away from me and headed toward the station. I didn’t look back. I knew what would happen to me if I did. But there was one thing I knew for certain. I couldn’t hear Namtan chasing after me. It seemed like she was desperately trying to hold herself back from following me. Even so, the sound of her tears and her sobbing still escaped into the air. That sound stayed in my ears the entire time. Even as the train came rushing toward me, cutting through the wind, after I passed through the ticket gate. #namtanfilm #au #namtantipnaree #filmrachanun
