@bearintheabruhouse: I’ve never regretted taking Bear on a walk. Not on the cold days, muggy days, tired days, busy days, nor the days when I just don’t feel like it. Because one day he won’t be able to walk as much, or life really will get so busy that we won’t have the time. Or he won’t be here. I don’t want to look back with any regrets. So here are some tips to get you in the habit: 1. Pick a consistent time of day. Morning or evening. Doesn’t have to be exact but that does help. 2. Put on exercise/walking clothes so you’re ready to go and it puts me in the mood. 3. Pick a consistent route and have variations in case you want to make it longer or shorter. It’s ok if it’s a quick walk! 4. Plan what you’ll do. Is it a playlist? Audiobook? Creating a to-do list? Talk-to-text is your friend. 5. Teach your dog how to walk properly. By your side without pulling. 6. Remind yourself how much they will enjoy this. You benefit from it, too!
