@berkshirefarmgirl: WOULD YOU GAMBLE £30,000? With the UK in drought, we’ve just had our earliest harvest since 1976. Yields are down, and we’ve made a loss on our milling wheat. Now farmers across the country are having to make the next big decision… Do we plant next year’s crops? We’re looking at spending £30,000 to plant 250 hectares of OSR. But with no rain in the forecast, what do we do? What would you do ? #drought #farmers #foodsecurity #foodshortage #berkshirefarmgirl
you farm according to the weather not the calendar the soil temperature is currently too warm as well for OSR to germinate and carry on growing.
we totally have to change our mentality we just keep resetting every year with the hope it will all go well for us.
as things currently are in the farming sector it may be more of a benefit not to grow anything than commit to another year of poor yields and poor prices.

Soon be growing soy and agave. The future is looking grim for farmers as far as arable goes. Temp up every year.

Wait. Have to be absolutely daft to plant anything right now. Still early in the season
