@craftheritage: Tang Sancai, or Tang Tri-Color Pottery, is an iconic traditional Chinese glazed pottery art prevailing in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, representing the peak of ancient Chinese ceramic craftsmanship and a precious intangible cultural heritage. Its unique gorgeous colors derive from natural mineral ores. Artisans take quartz and red lead as the basic glaze base, and blend hematite, copper oxide and cobalt oxide to form classic yellow, green and blue tones. Through rigorous water levigation, long-term precipitation and slow shade-drying, the glaze powder is refined to achieve pure and delicate texture. Adopting gypsum mold casting and hollow clay body technology, craftsmen ensure standardized shapes and avoid cracking and deformation. The pottery undergoes two strictly controlled firings: biscuit firing for body shaping and glaze firing for final color presentation. Tang Sancai is not limited to three colors. Its natural flowing glaze texture, layered luster and vivid shapes fully reflect the open, prosperous and romantic aesthetic of the Tang Dynasty.
