I don't know why, but I have suspicions—about my dad. It hurts because it feels like he’s deceiving us, deceiving Mom... like he’s seeing another woman. There was a time he picked me up, and we took a shortcut because the usual route involved a downhill stretch; his motorcycle had a problem—it would get noisy going downhill. While we were on the shortcut, he asked me to buy water from a store. When I returned to hand him the water, the saleswoman was smiling at him, and he was smiling back. He’s done that many times. And me? I just pretended I don't suspect anything. But deep down? I’m full of doubt. Just recently, I knew he and Mom were fighting, yet I did nothing. I just pretended not to know. And now? I know they’re just pretending that everything is fine. But it isn't. There was a night when Mom borrowed Dad's phone because my sibling needed it for an assignment; he agreed, but he insisted on controlling it himself. I don't know for sure, but it was painfully obvious that he was hiding something. It hurts. And on top of that, whenever Dad uses his phone, he does it secretly—making it glaringly obvious that he's concealing something.
Every night, I cry secretly and silently. Because I’m afraid that someday, what I fear might happen—that the truth will come out. That maybe... our family will fall apart.
