OK, apparently I have to say this AGAIN. Two pitchers who take the mound every fifth day for maybe 6 - 7 innings do NOT make an entire team. Every single player on that field contributes. Did we want to keep Skubal and Mize? HELZ yes. They’re damn good pitchers, and we aren’t idiots, of course we wanted them. But we also knew this team was taken down by injuries, and once guys started getting healthy and coming back, we were going to start winning again. The Tigers didn’t magically become a good team overnight. They got their TEAM back. And the fans didn’t give up. We were worried, but it was Scott Harris who gave up. He’s the one who said he didn’t think we played well enough. What GM says that about their team BEFORE the season is over?

first, they were doing pretty decent before the trade. second, they remain in the bottom half of MLB, playoff spot will lose wary on just like the past two seasons. Ownership and Leadership is not interested in an actual playoff ready team

Literally happened in 2024 as well, sold at the deadline and made a Cinderella run to the playoffs, then lost. It was fine that year. Then 2025 we the best team in ball till mid August and nearly fell out of the playoffs, squeaking into the WC. Now the Tigers are chasing a wild card spot in a historically bad AL. Selling was the correct call as the only thing worth not getting anything for a Skubal departure is the big trophy, and that ain’t happening with the way the bullpen can hold a lead and how quiet the bats get when they are in a rut
