Chris Hansen even being in the EDP documentary basically destroys every single argument people had to defend the idea that Chris wasn’t in it for glory. I genuinely can’t WAIT for Primetime, but I’m dreading the discussions that just lead into “your a pedo for criticising Chris!”

I've been off Hansen since he got involved with several instances of internet child predators, seemingly to squander the story and then sell the story off. he did it with Onision, sold the story to Discovery+ after he'd completely botched the case he was trying to spearhead. And he allowed people to lie on his platform about Dahvie Vanity of Blood on The Dancefloor fame (notorious predator). He has made it deeply clear that he is primarily concerned with ego and profit, NOT victims. He exploits the victims.

having watched the edp documentary I hope that movie is about whether or we should sensationalise predator catching. the biggest takeaway for me from watching the edp documentary is that he didn't get arrested because "pred catchers" saw it as content first.

question for the people: am I being a cynic if I turned off the EDP doc as soon as I saw how...dramatic the visuals and attempts of being cinematic were? it gave me the ick and worse?

After I told my middle school aged sons that people say "it's not that deep" when they don't understand something and they don't have any intellectual curiosity to find out more about that thing - they stopped saying this phrase at all. and now when they're playing video games with friends and their friends say it, they say things like, "you're just saying that because you don't get it" or, "bro, you sound so stupid because you're not clocked in." they are absolutely desensitizing sexual violence in every way - against both women and children.

I really believe that Hansen started out like a normal journalist who stumbled onto something that became more popular than anyone expected and he lost his mind a little in all of that fame and glory.

i never comment on vids but this is a topic that’s hit me hard as of recently, i recommend predators (2025) documentary by david osit. it explores the history of to catch a predator along with its controversy revolving around “if it’s ethical to televise & was actual justice served”? it also explores the more new age of copycats. personally for me it feels all for revenue, their is no real care or protection for victims in these awful situations, which is disturbing. i as well im excited for primetime :))
