Electroluminescent paint looks amazing, but people should know it isn’t just “paint” — it’s a high‑voltage electrical system sealed under clearcoat. If that clearcoat ever wears away from sun, weather, or age, the conductive layers underneath can become exposed. At that point the surface can actually carry an electrical charge, meaning someone brushing against it — especially a kid or elderly person — could be shocked. EL coatings are only safe as long as the protective clearcoat stays intact, and that’s something manufacturers don’t really warn people about.

That’s illegal AF. All non OEM lights are illegal if they are visible from the front. Red lights are strictly restricted to factory rear brake lights, taillights, and rear marker lamps.
