@bluetsunami2026: Cats: The Jellicle Ball the Musical is a queer reimagining of the classical musical but on glitter heroine, and it is an ascending experience! It brings fierceness, euphoria, electricity, queerness, and outlandishness to a NYC’s ballroom set where these pussy cats strut their pose, pahhty their tails off, bring the audience to their feet, and sang, girl do they sang!!...dance…girl, do they dance!!...and work…do they werk it! The creative team behind this brilliantly reinterprets the Cats story into the world of real-life queer ballroom culture. If you want to pahhhhty, this is the musical that should be on top of your list. If you ever wanted to be part of that underground vogue Pose-offs with Billy Porter, you gotta get your fan and clack it, get yo tail off the couch and get this serving of pure joy. The storyline is simple, the Jellicle Cats gather for the BIG event, the Jellicle Ball, a massive, high-energy dance sequence where the cats introduce themselves and compete, not just for fun, to prove they possess a ‘soul,’ to showcase their identity, their worth, and their unique place within the tribe, hoping to earn the blessing of the elder and leader of their clan, Old Deuteronomy (the diva himself, André De Shields) who will choose one cat to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn. The Ball is a test of performance and community. It was just announced that Aug 8th will be the last performance of this amazing show. We are no longer going to see the ubah talents of Emma Sofia as Skimbleshanks or Silk Mason as Mister Mistoffeleesis is crazy to me, but we will be seeing them again in brighter lights, no doubt! This show is the best thing on Broadway, the best show in New Yawk, the best show in the nation, period! We failed in supporting this beautiful LGBQT+ production that deserved a long long run just like its predecessor. Thank the good lord they just announced that there will be a cast album!! Phew!! Well it’s ovah…the last show has been sang, the last fan has been clacked, when I walk down 44th and that marquee is not there my ass is gonna be a ball of tears 😿 But we all move on and at least we have these vids to pontificate and to celebrate what effing great show this is and was. Boom! 💥 I felt this was an apropos song to post ‘post’ Cats Jellicle era since it’s the climactic musical sequence where Grizabella ascends toward the heavens, carried upward amid shimmering lights and ensemble harmonies sort of where this musical is ascending to in the greats of Broadway musicals.
