December 2, 2022, my mom went in the hospital for a foot reconstruction surgery, and flatlined on the table. I wasnt notified until hours later, even though I sat in the waiting room thinking everything was okay with my mom. My mom was hospitalized that day & until the day she passed. 8 days later, my mom woke up not speaking but moving her face. The doctors had told us she was brain damaged but we refused to take that as an answer. I turned to God, and let him take control. Everyday I would go visit her, do her hair & nails and just talk with her even though she could not speak. Doctors told us she would probably take years to speak. One day i went to visit her, i asked her “do you know me mommy? Do you know my name” she said yes, but she never called my name. Till this day, i never knew if my mom remembered me or what. One thing for sure she definitely remembered my son, the first time he came to see her, she smiled and kissed him. One day our visit got odd. I saw that my mom was getting better then things looked down. She started looking around the room as if someone else was there. I asked her “are you ready to go home” as in our actual house but deep down inside i knew it was a deeper meaning to the statement 💔💔 she answered me “yes💔💔” but I just was hoping she would be better so i told her “well you have to make some progress for me so i can get you out this bed” i stayed with her everyday & night because i couldnt leave her. I ended up having to leave due to my son but i visited everyday making sure she was okay. GREAT NEWS .. she was breathing on her own and attempting to talk and move more until … January 8-11 i received so many doctor calls in the middle of the night. They would say “ your mother flatlined, and all the progress she made is back to square one…. When i say i didnt know what to do i just criedddd and crieddd because WHY MOMMY🥺🥺🥺🥺“On January 12, 9:00pm I couldn’t sleep, had the biggest meltdown and could not understand why i was tripping so hard, nothing was feeling right to me. January 13💔💔💔💔💔 6am i got the call… “your mom is very sick and i know you want to keep her but shes not making any progress and she keeps going out” my mom flatlined so many times that day…. I rushed to the hospital. Got there… i accidentally walked in on them performing CPR on my mom, i saw my mom look at me… i passed out, i lost it. I knew that it would be selfish of me to let her stay in this cruel world. My mom stayed alive for 5 minutes. I talked to her and told her “thank you for being my mommy, you fought long and hard beautiful, take your rest” January 13 10:19am i watched my mom take her last breath. We had so many plans, so many dreams, so much of things we couldve done. May, i graduated college, cried the whole time because i could only see her being there, how she would be loud, how she wouldnt care about being the loudest in the room. Jerri Christine Brailsford… thank you, for not only making me but for carving me into the example of a woman that would be more than proud to represent your name, thank you for making ways, thank you for loving me, thank you for life, thanks for your hustle, strength, and determination, thank you for building me with the strength of a LION, and to press my way forward as the days go by where i can no longer feel you or see you here with us. I miss you, but God needed another shining light, and what a great one he took with him. I’ll forver love you, honor you, and adore the path you set for me. Mommy i love you and miss you more than you’ll ever know … fly high baby … your mission is done here… a job well done you’ve earned those wings🕊️🩷#fyp #foryoupage #MomsofTikTok #grief #mom
