But there is challengers. People have this false narrative that if a team has a new manager they can’t be expected to challenge. Xabi Alonso has won leagues as player and manager, went invincible in the bundesliga beating Bayern munchen who had won it 11 times consecutively prior to that year and they beat 2nd comfortably they walked the league. Add that to the fact Chelsea have a very solid squad that Chelsea fans claim to have the best players in the league in some positions and have now spent loads more on it and they don’t have European football. They should be challenging. United came third have spent on a new midfield they should challenge. Man City have bought a midfielder that cost 130 million or whatever it was and are looking to add more to that position with bouaddi who’s gonna cost a further 80 million on top of the squad that just came second in the league and done a cup double. They should be challenging. Tottenham have just spent 200 million on a midfield got Andy Robertson who’s a winner and a leader in the side signed van hecke and looking to add savinho to that squad with injured players coming back and no European competition. They should at least be amongst it for a few months I don’t care where they finished if you add that much that’s the expectation. Liverpool can get away with it cos they have literally no depth and have barely invested and still might fail to sign Barcola with ekitike out for a while salah gone Robertson gone gakpo might leave and Curtis jones might leave. Everyone else I’ve named tho needs to challenge no excuse
