She stared at Minjeong's peaceful face, her heart aching. "Why is the world so cruel to you?" Jimin whispered, tears slowly falling from her eyes. "I promise I won't leave your side. I'll protect you forever." She wiped her tears, but more continued to fall. "I thought you were just someone I needed to protect." Jimin paused. "But no..." She smiled sadly. "I want to protect you now, Minjeongie." Slowly, Minjeong stirred beneath the blanket. "Minjeongie?" Jimin immediately wiped her tears and sat up. Minjeong slowly opened her eyes. "You're awake?" "You called me Minjeongie?" Jimin nodded shyly. "It's cute." Jimin laughed softly. "Is it?" Minjeong nodded with a wide smile. "You're finally learning to be affectionate with me. You're not that boring anymore." Jimin gently pinched Minjeong's cheeks. "It's all your fault." — Three days later, the house suddenly felt quiet and peaceful. Somehow, the gangs that had been threatening Minjeong's life had disappeared. Minjeong happily wandered around the house, casually spinning a knife in her hand while humming. Jimin suddenly spotted her. "Hey, Minjeongie. What are you holding?" "Hmm? This?" Minjeong held up the knife. "Yeah, that! It's dangerous!" "No, it's not." "Yes, it is. Give it to me." Jimin quickly snatched the knife from her hand. Minjeong pouted. "Mimi! That's mine!" "Who gave this to you?" "It's been with me since I was a kid." Jimin stared at her in disbelief. "All this time, you've had a dangerous weapon?" "Why not? Daddy gave it to me for my seventh birthday." "That old man gave you something like this? Is he out of his mind?" Jimin shook her head. "Anyway, I'm hiding this for now." "Mimi, give it back!" Minjeong followed Jimin around the dining table, throwing a small tantrum. Just then, the front door opened. Mingju finally arrived home. "Boss! I want to ask you something—" Before Jimin could finish, Mingju interrupted her. "Wait. I want you all to meet someone." He stepped aside. "Let me introduce you to this woman, sweetheart." "Who?" Minjeong looked confused. A woman peeked playfully from behind the door. "Hi!" She approached Minjeong with a bright smile. "I'm Vivian." Mingju smiled. "She'll be your new math tutor, so address her as your teacher." Minjeong's eyes sparkled. She immediately liked the woman standing in front of her. Vivian smiled warmly at her, and Minjeong smiled back. But Jimin felt something was wrong. Instead of feeling relieved, she felt uneasy. And, perhaps... She was jealous. Jimin turned toward one of Mingju's men. "You. Keep your eyes on that woman." The man looked confused. "Isn't that your job? You're Miss Minjeong's bodyguard." Jimin's eye twitched. She kicked him lightly in the knee. "Idiot! I didn't mean Minjeong. I meant the woman!" "Oh..." He finally understood. "Right." "Report to me immediately if she does anything suspicious." "Yes!" — Weeks passed, and Jimin couldn't find anything suspicious about Vivian. Eventually, she started convincing herself that the woman really was just a tutor. Still, that uneasy feeling never disappeared. Jimin's instincts had rarely been wrong. Another week passed. Minjeong became increasingly attached to Vivian and began neglecting Jimin. Whenever Jimin asked if she wanted ice cream, Minjeong would say: "Can we buy some for Teacher Vivian too?" Whenever Jimin asked her to go for a stroll: "I'm going to the mall with Teacher Vivian. Let's go another day." Even during meals, Jimin found herself watching Minjeong feed Vivian. "Here, Teacher Vivian. This is my favorite." Jimin's expression darkened. "You're so sweet, Minmin." Jimin's eyebrow twitched. "Minmin? Why does she get to call her that? That's not cute at all." Vivian heard her muttering and smiled. She deliberately reached toward Minjeong's head.
