not all of us. I genuinely care for my employees and 100% support their growth, whether the long term goal is with us or not. I can always hire someone else if they decide to leave. I would rather see the person thriving in 5 years and be able to have been a part of that growth and success than to have them stay and be miserable.

I had a coworker who I was super cool with, been out drinking together etc. He ended up getting an assistant management position and when I was quitting, I told him my plans and asked for some advice and he ended up telling the big boss before I even got to give my letter and put my 2 weeks in. I’ll never trust a coworker again.

Specifically what you’re describing is the spineless cool boss, who can be dangerous because they don’t have any confidence in themselves and are afraid of losing their job. The real cool boss will often legitimately ride with their people.
