@traveltomtom: Wait… you can EAT cotton?! 😂🇳🇬 Gine from @Gina Ehikodi-Ojo invited me into her studio to cook something Nigerian that she was pretty sure nobody else would introduce me to. Cotton seed soup. Yes, cotton. The same plant we use to make clothes. 😂 Apparently you clean the seeds, grind them and cook them down in seasoned meat stock until they become the base for a soup. And in Nigeria, why stop there? In went the meat, tripe, shrimp, dried fish, pepper and a whole bunch of spices. Basically, if it tastes good, throw it in. 😂 Gina told me everyone traveling around Nigeria gets introduced to things like jollof rice and egusi, but she wanted me to go home saying: “I made cotton seed soup in Nigeria.” And the taste? Unreal. So much flavor packed into one little bowl. I came to Nigeria expecting jollof rice. I definitely didn’t expect to eat cotton. 😂🇳🇬 More reasons to love this country! #nigerian #FoodTok
