My issue with it is the later half of it. Going from ancient civilizations and cowboy aesthetics to cyberpunk was so jarring to me. I just wanted to go back to the mesoamerican aesthetics.

I'm of the opinion that a LOT of people expected the same intensity as Shadowbringers and Endwalker and didn't absorb the fact that this was the start of a completely different story.

Everyone knew it was the start of a new story…it just wasn’t a very good one. The races, city design, and characters weren’t compelling and then it turned into a weird cyberpunk ff9 which was just the worst…
