@talkinyanks_: Aaron Boone knew the umpires were going to reward the Red Sox a run last night even though the runner didn't tag up #MLB #baseball #umpire #challenge #redsox
No non-tagging runner should ever score on a fly out. Nonsensical rule.

Wait until they find out it can be the 4th AND 5th out

The problem was that the umps said no run initially and changed it after the jays were off the field removing their ability to appeal (at least that's what Schneider said after the game)

Well i guess if your down 2-1 in the top of 9 then all teams should do this. Why not.

one of several issues the bluejays manager had with this play, is the home plate umpire waved the jays players of off the feild essentially saying ok, play is dead, 3 outs for the jays, boston is retired. Then the umpires logic for the run being allowed to score is they said the jays did not either throw the ball to third to record the out or challenge at 3rd that the runner left early. except they were not allowed to challange at any point because the umpire waved them off of the feild and told them boston was retired.

I think if the runner makes it to home before the fly ball gets caught then it’s a score

“ohh i bet he scored” yes, why would they appeal if there wasn’t a chance of scoring

The lesson is:…. if ANYthing feels off about the situation, ANYTHING, just toss the ball to every base and touch it. It costs nothing. Do it even if it feels pointless.

imagine we lost the world series last year because of a play like this instead of how it ended

do they ever ask boone on how he always botches late game decisions and if he is actually the one controlling the team

I had an umpire pull this on my team not once but twice in rhe same game when I played little league baseball after that we religiously passed the ball to first, second, third and home plate at the end of every inning regardless of the score, or if anyone was on base. we did that for the rest of the season. fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, im not getting off the field until this ball has touched every base!

Crazy rule but I feel like everyone should know this by now. Didn’t it happen in recent years ?
