I understand this so deeply. I had to make the same decision for my boy on June 29th of this year because of his quality of life. It was the hardest decision I have ever made, because I would have kept fighting for him forever if I believed there was a chance he could have been okay. But I knew he wouldn’t be, and I knew I couldn’t keep asking him to fight just because I wasn’t ready to lose him. When they gave him the injection, I was holding him in my arms, loving on him and telling him over and over how much I loved him. I remember the exact moment he took his last breath. I felt the weight of his little body shift in my arms, and I swear I could feel him leave. I think about that moment every single day. And what you said about the box really got me. I remember getting his ashes back and looking at this little box thinking, How can my baby be in here? How can this be all I’m physically left holding after 13 and a half years of holding him? It’s such an impossible feeling. I’m so sorry you know this kind of pain too. But your baby left this world with you there, holding his paw and loving him. I hope someday that part of the memory brings both of us more comfort than pain. ❤️

I understand what going through and I felt exactly like they when my Doberman passed way very unexpectedly from one to another and also had to decided to uthenize him bc he was in pain and he was only two bc his gallbladder ruptured probably from stones and he left me two babies to remember him by and this was a little over two years ago already and I still cry everyday
