The Abuja National Mosque dominates the skyline of Nigeria’s capital with its huge golden dome and four towering minarets. Islam is one of Nigeria’s two major religions and is particularly widespread across the northern part of the country. The National Mosque was completed in the 1980s, shortly before Abuja officially became Nigeria’s capital. Located right in the heart of Abuja, it’s one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and an important place of worship for Nigeria’s Muslim community.
