I also think part of the problem is having people in these positions who are there for the paycheck and not because they genuinely care about or understand the responsibility of the job. You’re dealing with vulnerable people ,professionalism, empathy and basic respect should be non-negotiable.

I went to a clinic for contraception and I'm sure the nurse thought I was lying about being on my period. she made me pee in a jug and stand in the very crowded, cramped corridor with a jug full of my period blood where other patients were waiting to be seen. there was also no water so when I peed,I was told to go clean it up and shouted at as if it was my fault there was no water. I was never humiliated about period related things again because nothing will top that.
