The longer I stayed with this .. the more I found myself thinking about how strange it is to return to something that once held so much of who we were .. to stand somewhere familiar .. and .. still feel the same ache beneath our skin .. yet .. slowly realise that the person who once stood there has quietly changed in ways we never noticed while they were happening .. perhaps that is the strange part of certain wounds .. they can remain part of us without remaining the place we belong to .. the wound remembers the person we were .. while .. the person we are has learned to carry its meaning differently .. and .. maybe that is where this song reaches somewhere deeper for me .. not in the return itself .. but .. in everything that return quietly reveals about the distance travelled .. because .. sometimes we don't go back to reclaim what was left behind .. we go back .. and .. discover that what once had the power to define us has become something we can finally hold without allowing it to decide who we are .. perhaps that is why some wounds feel different when we meet them again .. the ache is still there .. but .. we are no longer facing it as the same person .. and .. there is something quietly powerful in that distinction .. where what once felt like an ending can become part of the language through which we understand everything that came after .. where the past can still have a voice without being given the final word .. and .. perhaps there is something worth lingering with in that space .. between what once broke us .. and . what we have slowly become beyond it .. because maybe the road ahead doesn't ask us to forget where we have been .. only to keep walking far enough to discover what else the wound might have made room for 🖤🥀
