@rmdlawyers: Do I Have to Report a Car Accident to the DMV in California? Today, I want to talk to you about what you are legally obligated to file with the DMV in the event that you get in a car accident. In California, if there's been an accident with an injury, property damage resulting in more than $1000 in damage, or wrongful death, you must file an SR-1 form with the DMV. Not doing so may result in suspension of your driver's license. Now, most people have no idea that they have to do this. In fact, this is not just in the event that you cause an accident. Even the victims of car accidents must submit this form, and you only have 10 days to do it. Now, most lawyers or law firms, they might even miss this for you, don't even care to file this for you. But, here at RMD Law, the first thing we do during the intake process is collect all the information so that we can file the SR-1 for you as soon as possible to make sure that you do not get a suspended license. But in any event, if you get into a car accident, go ahead and give us a call. We'd love to do a free case evaluation, and we'll go through your entire case in detail. Thank you. #rmdlaw #accidentattorney #personalinjurylawyer
