@ashleytheebarroness: Everybody knows the name Medgar Evers. But I need you to know the woman who refused to let Mississippi get away with what happened to him. Myrlie Evers-Williams spent three decades fighting for justice after her husband was assassinated. Thirty-one years later, she finally watched his killer get convicted. So today, the flowers are hers. #myrlieevers #medgarevers #BlackHistory #historytok #fyp

I actually knew people who lived 3 houses to the right. Every time I would go visit where Mississippi (cities of Jackson, Clinton, Bolton, Vicksburg Port Gibson, Byrum and Raymond), I would make a stop by Medgar Evers home. So evil to take a man down at his home in front of his wife and children. That’s exactly what we’re dealing with.., evil power hungry racist people. In the end, that era brought out the very best of my family members who lived during that time and passed along the gift to generations thereafter. Medgar helped planted 3 generations of good strong seeds in my family. To be continued…, ✊🏿✊🏾

I earned my undergrad degree from Medgar Evers College, where Betty Shabazz was a professor. I wouldn’t be half the women I am without that school. Thank you for posting his story 🥰

Ive stood in that driveway and cried looking at the children's mattresses on the floor to avoid the gun fire. Mississippi to this day still refuses to progress.

I’m ashamed to say, I didn’t know much about Medger Evers until the movie Ghosts of Mississippi came out in 1996. My jaw was on the floor the entire time. As a widow, I don’t know how Myrlie had the strength to continue the fight for some many years. Bless her and her family. Thank you for continuing to educate us!
