@meghannmcuniff: Lindsay Clancy's lawyer wants to call as a witness a TikTok user who used to work at McLean Hospital, the psychiatric facility where Clancy was for five days, weeks before she killed her young children. Emily Thorndike posted a video on July 29 from her account @Emily ♡ BPD & CPTSD Therapist emilyt_therapy that said she's a Massachusetts social worker who "worked at the McLean inpatient unit Lindsay Clancy was on for 8 years" and believes prosecutors are telling "lies" about the quality of care there. Judge William Sullivan in Plymouth County Superior Court said he'll issue a ruling later on whether to allow Thorndike's testimony. The judge heard argument this morning (Tuesday, August 11, day 11) from defense attorney Kevin Reddington, who said he learned of the potential witness, Emily Thorndike, through an email "from one of the very, very active people in the community of TikTok saying, 'Look, you got to check this video out.'" Reddington said his investigator went to the woman's home and "sat out in front of her driveway" seeking to talk to her about her statements. Thorndike said she thought the previous attempts to contact her "were all AI." "I didn't know that you were real. I thought it was spam," Reddington quoted Thorndike as saying. Assistant State Attorney Shanan Buckingham opposed the request. "We have records from McLean, and the records speak from themselves about what she was offered, what she did, what she declined, what the contact was with each and every person who wrote a note in that record. But this witness, admittedly, had wasn't there, had no contact, has no knowledge of the case in and of itself. And in this case, Your Honor, we deal with facts. We're presenting facts to the jury. We're not presenting somebody's opinion about what kind of care the defendant got during her stay at McLean," Buckingham said. Thorndike also isn't proposed to be an expert witness, which means she'd be subject to the same sequestration rules that apply to other witnesses, meaning she cannot watch the trial before her testimony.
