That is just illegal here in EU...i mean it. Also illegal to not showing how much they take from the card. Waitres MUST to show the numbers on the screen and the guest will touch/put/wipe the card to the maschine. So the card never leave the guest hand...

Yes. Absolutely weird. I used my Starling card in NYC and my phone alerted that they'd run it TWICE. I authorised it once and the server came back and said "It didn't work" asking for a second card. I showed him the app authorization. He soon shut up.

It's really dangerous. The card can be copied and the problems begin. In EU the waiters brink the POS device to the table and you can complete the transaction there.....
