@preciousapproved: SSRI vs SNRI gets mixed up all the time, but the difference starts with what they target. SSRIs primarily increase serotonin availability. SNRIs increase serotonin and norepinephrine availability. Same antidepressant family? Nope. Same mechanism? Nope. Interchangeable? Definitely not. The medication choice still depends on the diagnosis, symptoms, medical history, previous response, tolerability, interactions, and the individual patient. For boards: know the mechanism. For clinical practice: know the patient. Save this one for psych pharm review, share it with someone who keeps mixing these two up, and hit all my buttons: like, save, share, and follow for more psych meds explained plainly. 💚 #PsychPharm #PsychiatricNursing #PMHNP #MedicationEducation #PreciousApproved
