Serious question when it comes to ABA: How do you feel about punishment procedures? Say a kid has a strong sensory aversion to vacuum cleaner sounds. Do you think it would be ok, to blast vacuum cleaner sounds in that kid's ears to punish him for not staying in his seat. Before you say this is ridiculous, I actually witnessed this happen at an ABA center. When I tried to report it, I was told by a hotline worker that it was not reportable because it was part of the therapy. I looked it up and she was right, the governing body for ABA still allows these kinds of punishments. Google it yourself if you don't believe me.

As an RBT, I know the bad reputation ABA gets but see first hand the change in can make in a child as well as the entire family❤️

I’ve had an in law send me a link for compensation on Tylenol.. and another send me a video of a woman swearing her non verbal kid started talking after taking some type of meds. Let’s just say he’s not around the in laws much 😪🤷🏻♀️

As a girl my horror story is going to psychiatrists and telling them Im having issues socially and them telling me that wasnt true and that it was just anxiety related to adhd. No I actually had issues it was the autism

This. My daughter is very cute and looks neurotypical and I had a lady tell me I needed to start spanking during a meltdown. She got a crash course in autism since she was so invested.
