Checked bags have a weight limit for the sake of the workers who have to lift and handle them. They make us throw away liquids over 4oz bc terrorists can pretend that their liquid explosives are drinks/lotions/etc. Liquids sold pass TSA have obviously been screened already therefore they’re safe to sell and take on the planes.

I’ll say this…if it’s all about weight how come they don’t ask each passenger how they weigh? If there’s a weight limit wouldn’t they want to know how much each passenger weighs 🤷🏽♀️

I really hate defending corporate entities however there are actually logical answers to all of these things. Checked bags. If a check bag costs $45 for 1st bag and $55 for 2nd bag each with a weight limit of 50lbs then you can either pay $100 for two bags at 50lbs each or $100 for one bag over 50lbs because you’re actually paying for weight not items.

It’s for security reasons in case of emergency like turbulence . The overhead bin has weight limit. If it’s too heavy, the bags would fall onto passengers causing severe injuries

People are ignorant & wrong- the weight has more to do with weight and balance. Now can you imagine if they let every single person bring over 100lbs of stuff? The amount of weight that plane would carry including passengers, service items, water, fuel etc. and not to mention almost all planes carry cargo. Weight & Balance is the difference on you making it to your destination safely or not.

cracked me up flying from Dublin to London. you get through security then can buy full size bottles if flammable liquor to take on the plane with you.
