Pigeon keeping and racing in Europe has been happening for over 2,000 years, making it one of the oldest animal handling traditions on the continent. They are bring European culture back to Canada

in down town Hamilton we have a park (Gore Park) that is filled with pigeons. in recent years there have been people caught killing the pigeons, bagging them, then taking them home to cook and eat.....ewe and wrong on so many levels

I mean, pigeon racing started in Europe, so I guess they are just trying to bring back European culture? Personally I think most animal race training is inherently cruel and should be banned, but we havent stopped horses yet either, have we?

My son plays baseball on the street and wears blue jays shirt all the Time but my “British” Canadian neighbor I suppose across from our house complains that he shouldn’t be playing on the street. Everyone likes to complain I guess.

Every day, I see things happening in Canada that I’ve never seen before. Canada just doesn’t feel like the Canada it used to be. Thanks to the Liberals.

🦫 Fur: Beavers were heavily hunted for their dense, waterproof fur. Beaver-fur felt was especially valuable for making hats. * 🎩 Beaver hats: From roughly the 1500s–1800s, beaver-felt hats became fashionable in Europe, creating huge demand for beaver pelts. * 🌿 Castoreum: Beavers produce a substance called castoreum from scent glands. It was historically used in traditional medicine and perfumes. * 🍖 Meat: Beaver meat was also eaten, including during certain periods when religious rules restricted other meats. * 🌎 North American fur trade: Demand for beaver pelts helped drive the enormous North American fur trade. Traders exchanged goods with Indigenous peoples for beaver pelts, and millions of beavers were eventually killed. The hunting was so intense that beavers disappeared from, or became very rare in, many parts of Europe and were severely reduced across large areas of North America.
