People saying she should have responded in a timely manner are weird. It's 9 at night. No one is expecting to be invited on a last minute trip at 9pm. -Is OP wrong for having their daughter invite another friend, no. -Is friend B, wrong for not responding quick enough, also no. -Is it ok for friend B to become emotional about it, yes absolutely. She's a human. People are allowed to have feelings. -Is it wrong for the mother of friend B to try to make OP feel bad, yes. All of these can be true at the same time.

As someone whos been in this situation many times she's NTA at all I would advise thag friends mom to get it together because behavior like that is what will make your kid no longer be invited to things.

I would have told my daughter to text, a specific time to hear back or they would ask someone else. Setting the expectation, that if you don't reply by 10, we'll invite someone else.
