YES! Also in 20+ years I never observed him being moved by music, inspired by beautiful piece of art, in awe of a beautiful sunset, never grieved death of loved one, or humbled by the miracle of newborn babies. Zero response.

We don’t realize how much empathy plays a role in things other than just being compassionate. You need empathy to have a sense of humor. Without it, a person’s idea of ‘funny’ is warped and underdeveloped. Lack of empathy is also why they are terrible at communication. You need empathy to have a shared sense of humor and the ability to talk in a healthy way with others.

so very true. I was the only one who could love from my heart and soul, which obviously was also taken away being in that toxic relationship. 💕 But 5 years in and healing.And the laughs came back. So happy 😅

I was literally voted most humorous my senior year in a little town where I was born and raised. Looking back he only found me funny when he could make fun of me and my little town ways.
