@julie.says.things: I love paying premium prices on crappy products and services, many of which I am forced to buy just to survive! Let’s all go analog and run away into the woods. #capitalism #unitedstates

I’m a new mom. My latest issue with capitalism is the maternity leave/breastfeeding issue. Because what do you mean the CDC recommends exclusively breastfeeding for 1 year minimum, but we don’t have mandated maternity leave for that time. Exclusively breastfeeding means baby on the boob. Not pumping, not bottle feeding. So wtf. And the reason we will never have mandated maternity leave is because breastfeeding is free, formula is not. Those big manufacturers need their paychecks.

Lightbulb monopoly started it with planned obsolescence, modern design is just "minimum viable product" and marketing runs "willingness to pay" studies to find out how much they can milk you for. Enshittification of everything while forcing us to pay more for less

My washer is an old Maytag that my grandma bought in the 60s-70s and it still works perfectly (only needed fixing once bc a belt broke) but my dryer that was expensive and a newer model? Has been replaced 4 times in the past 20 years and it costs more to repair it than it does to replace it

Used to get a 5 year warranty, and the product would last 6 years. Now you get 1 year, it breaks in 4 months, and it takes 9 months to work through the hierarchy to finally get denied because the warranty expired.

Anyone remember when having a bunch of ads meant you got the streaming service free or dirt cheap? Unlike today where you pay $12.99 for 47% ads by volume.

I don't think people realize this also applies to video games and not having physical discs any more. you dont own it, cant resell it, and access can be revoked at any time. capitalism is just another word for greed.

I'm genuinely convinced that we will get to a point where we will have to grow our own food and forget about consuming anything else. The fact that the world is focused on hoarding wealth instead of improving our quality of life tells me we lost the plot.
