meaningless :
i think you could feed a lot of people cheap with a big lentil stew. quick bake some shock frozen veggies in the oven (im my country you usually get a big bag of thsoe for 2-4 eur) , or if you want the flavour explosion do it like this guy in a pan and deglase the aroma from the bottom. then wash 1 kilogram of cheap red lentils (around 2,40 eur where i shop in austria, probably cheaper elsewhere) three times and cook them for about 45min to an hour. i like to blend the veggies to a cream and add them to the cooking lentils as a soup base, adding a broth cube is optional, i add a vegteble one (runs ya 1-3eur for 5 to 20 cubes, depending, the one i chose has no palm oil and costs anout 30cent per soup). traditional recipies call for getting a bucnh of flavour from pan frying an onion and some carrots to get the flavour, but im usually on time constraints so i literally just bake and blend the vegg. i personally also add a frozen piece of salmon and blend it into the soup base with the vegg, but this is a me thing. in amy case, an onion should be gettable for 50c, i like to add caraway, one time buy for many years of cooking this, and also optional. so this runs ya under 5 eur, with the salmon its around 7. you can get whichever meat or sausage is on sale tho, usually you can get something about to expire (those dates are extremely conservative in austria, food is usually good for a few weeks after that if refrigereted) and probably wont be over 6 eur, if you really want meat (the lentils have a lot of protein). so yeah, this will be extremely healthy, nutritious, filling and cheap. taste depends a bit on how much time you want to invest, but it's usually quite nice. and, seeing as its 1kg of dry ass lentil mass going in, this will feed a family for 2 days! i freeze this down in small containers and eat it over two weeks, suppelemted with some other meals here and there, but this is really the central pillar, cheap, healthy, tasty, preped for weeks! literally covers almost my whole nutritiknal need, just a salad and some odd carbs here and there, maybe some protein and im golden.
