It is RARELY the daughter in law. She is a mirror.

The problem is usually the mother-in-law.

Weird take Jefferson. 99% of the time it’s the MIL wanting to control everyone in her life because she’s unfulfilled from her marriage and then abusing the DIL

If my MIL came to me and said this I’d start crying. Then I’d hug her. Then I’d be calling therapists in our area to set something up.

My question is, what if it not necessary a pattern of unhealth in our family but an outsider that is unhealthy that isolates a kid from his family. Why is always that our family must be unhealthy?

I want to challenge you to reverse that narrative. My MIL is the original monster in law- that is so evil and such a grifter - mothers of sons are not all angels

What I don’t understand is why is it that the parents are the ones that are told to do the accountability and to initiate each time and the “adult” child is typically the victim each time? It seems to be a bias rhetoric. They get to have a voice but it seems the parent is silenced. There are some parents who are making so much effort but the AC calls the shots, insults, and seems to be a double standard.

Abuse is anyone who tries to isolate anyone else from their family. It’s on the abuse wheel and yes it can happen much later in relationships and get worse over time. That is not being on the same page as your partner but it can be presented that way

If someone can articulate that well…what they want there probably isn’t an issue… most family issues come down to people not being able to clearly communicate.

My MIL suggested family therapy and I quickly shut it down. When my husband was a teen they did this and it turned into a "blame the kid" situation. Based off all the interactions with her, I did not trust it to not turn into a "MIL is the victim" show.

The script means NOTHING if the parent does not actually MEAN it. It means nothing if the parent does not have TRUE remorse and willingness to repair. 💯💯💯💯💯

No offense, but not all in-laws are kind or respectful. Some can be rude, disrespectful, and difficult to deal with. Every family is different, and good character and respect should always go both ways.
