Brilliant, I never not respond to a young grad on LinkedIn simply asking me to point them in the right direction. And then when you’re provided a name, simply send an email, “so and so was kind enough to point me in your direction” great technique to get your foot in the door!

This is exactly how my friend’s son got his job. Same situation, he looked for his school alumni at companies he was applying to that had open positions, it took him about 5 months and he had to move to a city he wasn’t really wanting to move to, but he is very much now gainfully employed.

that’s great! i’ve been trying to try a different technique cause just applying to jobs within a couple hours of them posting wasn’t even doing much and ik i have the skills needed. i will be trying to do this now. question: did you apply to job and then reach out to them to connect?

That’s how we thought our son to do it and that’s exactly what he did! He hit great feed back and got a good number of interviews that way. We trained him literally to do this
