@anna..papalia: Stop saying that it’s never been harder to find a new job. It’s always been hard to find a new job. The system was not designed to give you access; it was designed to keep you out. Job interviews are only 100 years old and that’s because jobs were protected by birthright. If you weren’t born into the right family and didn’t have the right name ,you couldn’t get a job. Jobs were also protected by gender. Women were not allowed to apply to certain jobs just because they were women. Historically it’s ignorant to say it’s never been harder to find a job. But I know why you say it, it’s because of an availability heuristic. Technology, like the internet and online job applications make applying to jobs so much easier. Our society and new laws allowing anyone to apply to any job gives you unprecedented access. That access makes you think it should be easy. In addition, everyone has a microphone. Never before in human history have millions of people had access to the same system to compare notes about how hard it is to get a job. Leading you to believe that it’s harder than ever before and technology has ruined everything. And to top it all off you have career influencers who need content talking about how bad the job market is. Here’s the truth- ▪️It has never been easy to find a new job. ▪️Technology hasn’t made your job search harder it just made it easier to apply to jobs. Looking for a job has always been hard. There used to be laws against you looking for work now you get ghosted after filling out a job application and act like you’ve been discriminated against. There has always been an obstacle. Everyone has a microphone which makes you think that it’s worse than it has ever been. It’s not. You just have more access to people talking about it. Accept that looking for a job is difficult. Get off the internet and get some perspective. #jobsearch #unemployed
this post is out of touch. It’s really hard right now. I have a job but I believe this is one of the toughest times to find a new job.

You don't need a job. Start your own business.

It’s not supposed to be easy, but it should be reasonable.

It’s not that it’s always been hard. Post-WWII America had near-full employment, like under 4% unemployment for decades.
Also you’re speaking based on your experience in the USA. Plenty of other countries and eras have a totally different story. Some much easier, some worse. Not everyone’s culture and history matches yours.

Anna you speak the truth! Another caveat is that along with easier and greater accessibility means more competition than ever!

I'm sorry but I have to disagree this time. It is not always the same, just with different obstacles. There are circumstances in different moments that finding a job is more difficult. Otherwise no one would have lost their job during the pandemic. A war wouldn't add difficulty to finding a good or any job. An economic crisis in your country would affect job availability, even if a company decides to reduce costs and move their operations to another region would affect job availability. It is not always the same.

Why should finding a job be easy? Like, existentially who or what would be responsible for "easy for thee, but not for zee". It's scarcity and competition. Economics is cool. 😎

As you are a professional on hiring,I had an interview and I asked about the core values and I was told check online from the talent partner 😳 how to deal with situations like that? I felt from the beginning she wasn’t interested on hiring or my profile. my experience is great for the role. just wanted to share my experience thanks!
