university cop here, we have parents that randomly show up to dorms on occasion demanding to be let in to see their child. we have to turn them away and sometimes trespass them and explain to them that yes that is their child but their child is an adult and they do not have to speak to you or see you if they don't want. had a mom that said she would unenroll her daughter that night if I didn't go get her acting like it would affect me. I said go for it your child is an adult and that's not my problem.
