@taninkayvan: Full video on Colombias invasive hippos is on my YouTube channel, link in bio! I spoke with Escobars zookeeper to chat with him about the story because no one knows these hippos better than he does!
How does one smuggle hippos?!? Asking for a friend.

I feel like relocating 300 hippos would be really difficult and expensive. I’m confused why people are all for (ethically) culling invasive species when they’re reptiles, insects, bugs, etc. but call it cruelty whenever it’s mammals?

of hippos are not endangered than there is no reason not to euthanize them

It’s the governments fault for just turning them loose when Pablo met his end. They should have been sent to a zoo

Relocating 300 hippos sounds impossible…. The whole situation has gotten out of hand

I will be straightforward. I would kill them because hippos are very very dangerous animals and they tear up river beds. They kill more people than lions every year and they are very aggressive animals especially if they’re invasive I would.

There is no one to pay for that many to be relocated. No where to take that many hippos and they can’t stay there. So killing them is the only option.

If I had wild hippos in my backyard, I wouldn’t be sticking my foot out of the boat like that😭

Let hunters come in, hippo hunts would be great for the community. A lot of meat, removing a danger to both people and the ecosystem, and would be great for the economy!

I don’t think it’s a good idea to relocate them putting so many people in danger. They should be euthanized.

Could those four just be what they say they had? Because I thought he had a larger group not counting the descendants because four seems small for being the start

I read that there have been people offering to pay, however the countries/locations they would be relocated to don’t want them. Due to those 150-200 hippos being inbred and don’t want those genetics mixing with the natural/native hippos. Additionally, the worry of these foreign hippos possibly being exposed or have diseases that the native hippos have never been exposed to.
